I have been working through the openSAP course titled BI 4 Platform Innovation and Implementation. At 6:53 of Week 2, Unit 1: Installation the instructor states, "Now let's talk about some platform-specific requirements. So we'll start with Windows. First and foremost, it's necessary now to install the .NET Framework at 3.5 SP1 or higher."
How would I tell what version .NET is installed if any? I thought I would find something in the Control Panel ("Uninstall a Program"). On my Development server I have the following .NET related items...
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended
However, on my Test server I have nothing listed in the Control Panel related to .NET. In our Production environment we have two load balanced web servers and two load balanced app servers. The web servers have the same .NET related entries in their Control Panel as list above, but the app servers do not.
So is .NET really not necessary or does it go by some other name? If it is necessary, how can my Test server be functioning?
All systems mentioned are on 4.1 SP01 Patch 2 and seem to be functioning reasonably well.
Thanks,
Noel
